Jazz Cats is the latest project by Hristo Yotsov. “Cat” being a slang for jazz musician or jazz person in general. In the history of music this idiom has been used often, especially for virtuoso players. Louis Armstrong is among the first to call his bandmates “cats”. The word has also been used by Miles Davis who referred to everyone as “cats”. In the golden age of jazz, the members of Duke Ellington’s Orchestra are also “cats”.
In Jazz Cats Hristo invited young and talented like-minded musicians – Arnau Garrofe, great Spanish saxophone player who lives in Bulgaria, as well as the pianist Lubo Tsanev who studied music in the USA and bassist Dimitar Karamfilov.
